Alyce Scott

Head Trainer Manager

My name is Alyce Scott and I am the owner and trainer of A.S. Horsemanship and the Head Trainer at ATEC.

I love working with weanlings and yearlings to give them their very first experiences in training. Making sure it is as positive and relaxed as possible is what I strive for!

I also enjoy desensitizing horses to objects and to new places as well as groundwork, colt starting, and refresher courses too!

I started competing in the equestrian drill team when I was 11 years old and have won several national championships over the years. I’m currently studying to become a drill team judge beginning with the 2024 competitions.

In 2016, I was a part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation Tour and traveled all over the surrounding states performing at rodeos.

I purchased my filly, Davina, and that is really what opened up my training outside horses. Horses grow to be big and strong, so it was important to me to take Davina to as many events, parades, rodeos, and horse shows as I could. This helped her tremendously, and she became desensitized to so many different aspects of the horse world. Exposure and positive experiences are important to me and I have found it truly helps when training a horse.

I love passing my knowledge to the next generation and building up riders who are not only confident but kind.

Outside of training horses and giving lessons, I enjoy canoeing with my dog, family, and friends. I love to trail ride and camp with my horses. Learning never ends, so I also take lessons myself for riding non-stock horses. The more knowledge I have, the more I’m able to pass onto the next generation.

I love seeing kids develop a love for riding. I enjoy working with younger kids, giving them a good foundation for developing into a great horseperson.   I use riding as a way to train for softball.  It helps me engage and build muscles.  It has also helped with my balance.  I am confident that riding has helped my softball game.  I ride both English and Western and hold regional titles as well as top 10 national finishes in both English and Western.  I am excited to work with the kids and help them develop into great riders.

The barn is my favorite place to be. I love grooming horses, braiding is my favorite.  I love working with other kids to make our barn the best it can be.  I like cheering on my teammates and helping them get past their fears.  My horse Westey is WR Amazing Tradition he is a multi-national champion who has taken care of me.  He has taught me how to ride and how to be kind and gentle.  He almost died in 2022 but is back and doing "AMAZING".  He is my best friend.  I have ridden my horses to multiple regional championships and national top-ten finishes.  My favorite win of all time came at Region 13 2023 after Westley was crowned the unanimous champion in Western Pleasure, after he almost died I was not sure if he would ever be the "same" but I think he might just be better than ever :-)
